SHOP ALLThe best things to grill in summer are burgers, hot dogs, steaks, chicken breasts, and chicken legs. You can also make cabobs with broccoli, onions, carrots, potatoes, and corn! For a sweet treat, try grilled pineapple!
It can be appropriate to store a gas grill outside during the summer if you store them on a clear, flat surface at least 3 feet away from any other objects (including the home). Keep it away from flammable materials and brush. Always secure a grill cover over it after it has cooled off—you may need a waterproof cover depending on your location!
Keep it in an open, uncovered area that is flat. Most resources suggest storing it at least 10 feet from your home. Consider a concrete grilling pad where applicable.
High temperatures will affect the cooking time and temperature of your grill—it may require a lower heat setting than expected. For safety, consider a shady spot that’s clear of brush and other flammable substances before setup. Keep water both for yourself and for small fires from food residue on hand. Always have an extinguisher ready.
It is generally not a great idea to put your grill over grass. Organic materials, especially in the summer heat, can be ignited by smaller sparks. Your grill may be tilted or knocked over if the ground is not level and compact. Storing it on grass can also cause faster oxidation and rust in your grill. We suggest purchasing a grilling pad or cooking over driveway concrete.
Yes! Heat can still warp metal and especially affect propane tanks. Store the grill in between uses in a shaded area off of the grass and away from foliage where possible to avoid rapid deterioration. Keep that propane tank in a well-ventilated area.
