Northwest Hop Harvest Sets New Record

Across the Pacific Northwest, hop growers are expecting a record harvest of 91.8 million pounds this year. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, production of hops has grown 50-percent in the past five years. Just over 75-percent of all hops are grown in Washington state’s Yakima Valley.

OSU Honors Master Gardeners

More than 3,300 people have been trained by the OSU Extension Service as Oregon State University Master Gardener volunteers since the program began. This year, 30 of those master gardeners have been recognized for their volunteer efforts that have positively affected their communities and counties. The annual award is supported by the OSU Master Gardener program and the Oregon Master Gardener Association.
